International Sufi Conference, Lahore, 2003
The conference was held on 6-7 April, 2003 in Lahore. It was attended by scholars on Sufism from Punjab and other provinces. The following declaration was adopted:
- The writings of Sufi poets should be translated into English and published on the internet. Sufism should be taught at college and university level as a compulsory subject in Punjabi syllabus.
- It was also decided that WPC will hold international conferences on Waris Shah, Shah Hussain, Bulleh Shah and other Sufi poets.
- It was also demanded by the government to establish an institution for the research and publication of Sufi poets of other provinces also.
- It was demanded of all 4 provincial governments to teach languages at university level of each other’s province.
